    An American treasure

First lady Hillary Rodham Clinton appeared at a ceremony Wednesday, Oct. 27, after touring the Frank Lloyd Wright Robie House, which is owned by the University. The first lady, who is honorary chair of the Millennium Committee to Save America’s Treasures, made the appearance to spotlight the Robie House as one of the cultural landmarks that will be preserved as an American treasure through the program––a public-private partnership between the White House Millennium Council and the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The Pritzker Family Foundation made the private donation of $1 million toward the restoration project, which the government will match. Above (far right, from left to right), Tom Pritzker and University Provost Geoffrey Stone thank Clinton for her message about the importance of preserving Wright’s Robie House.
