    Peace Corps volunteers honored

Last week, President Sonnenschein (far left) and Beth Sonnenschein hosted a reception for the National Peace Corps Association, which recognized the service of Chicago-area volunteers. Above, the Sonnenscheins, whose daughter, Rachel, was a Peace Corps volunteer, greet program speakers, including former Peace Corps volunteer and Chairman of the Board of the Chicago Bears Michael McCaskey (left to right), Acting Peace Corps Director Charles Baquet III and NPCA President Dane Smith. Chicago has consistently been one of the top universities of its size to have students volunteer for the Peace Corps. There are 17 Chicago alumni currently volunteering overseas. President Sonnenschein gladly accepted McCaskey’s gift for his granddaughter.
