Reunion classes support ChicaGO READ! literacy project now in third year

Now in its third year, ChicaGO READ! is a project of the 1999 Reunion classes, the University of Chicago of Metropolitan Chicago and the Alumni Association to promote literacy and learning among Chicago children in kindergarten through sixth grade.

Donated new books will be distributed to Woodlawna Community High School, North Kenwood/Oakland Charter School, Ariel School, Jackie Robinson School and the Hug-A-Book program. During last year’s book drive, alumni and friends donated more than 300 books to the project.

Books may be dropped off at the Reunion registration tent on the Main Quadrangle during Reunion weekend Friday, June 4, through Sunday, June 6. Books also may be sent to the ChicaGO READ! project at the University Alumni Association, 1313 E. 60th St., Chicago, IL 60637.
