    Sacred and secular

[cardinal francis george], by lloyd degrane  Cardinal Francis George, Archbishop of Chicago, discusses some of the finer points of his speech with an attendee of the symposium The Catholic Faith and the Secular Academy. George said in his keynote address that in the future, the responsibility for cultural development will rest with those of faith and not with secular nations. He emphasized that the Church must be critical of any tendencies toward fragmentation within the academic world so as to maintain and promote unity of knowledge.
