    Critically acclaimed quartet coming to campus

    The Takacs Quartet will make its first University appearance at 8 p.m. Friday, April 17, in Mandel Hall. The concert, part of the Department of Music's Professional Concert Series, will include Mozart's Quartet in D major, K. 499, "Hoffmeister"; Bartok's Quartet No. 4; and Beethoven's Quartet in E minor, Op. 59, No. 2.

    The Takacs Quartet, founded in 1975, has achieved international prominence performing an annual series of concerts in Paris and London. Its exclusive contract with the London/Decca label has produced critically acclaimed interpretations of quartets by Haydn, Brahms and Schubert.

    Tickets are $22, $9 for students, and can be purchased by calling the Professional Concert Series Office at 702-8068.
