Dual concentrations to be on diplomas

Although officially recognized on College transcripts for years, dual concentrations will now be formally acknowledged on University diplomas and in Convocation programs.

"Like the new language certificate program, the recognition of advanced work by undergraduates will now be formally noted," said John Boyer, Dean of the College. "Students felt that it was valuable for them and for their careers to have their work for a second concentration officially recognized."

The proposal to formally acknowledge a second concentration was brought to the attention of the faculty by Student Government. The College Curriculum Committee and the Committee of the College Council reviewed the proposal and unanimously endorsed the concept. Previously, transcripts stated that a student concentrated in one subject and fulfilled the requirements for a second subject.

The formal acknowledgment of a second concentration will take effect in spring quarter 1999.
