Changes made to No. 2 bus route

Two changes have been made to the No. 2 bus route: a stop has been added at Regenstein Library, and the route has been revised to enhance the safety of passengers discharging at Shoreland Hall. The changes are reflected on Bus No. 2 maps with a revised date of 3/98 in the upper right-hand corner.

    New Regenstein stop

On all southbound runs, the No. 2 bus will continue south on Ellis Avenue to 57th Street, go east on 57th Street to University Avenue, and north on University to 55th Street, where it will rejoin the original route heading east on 55th Street. This change will significantly reduce ride times for passengers wishing to discharge at the Library, while only increasing ride times by a few minutes for others remaining on the route for later stops.

    Revised Shoreland drop-off

To enhance the safety of passengers discharging at Shoreland Hall, the No. 2 bus will now head north from 55th Street to 53rd Street along South Hyde Park Boulevard (rather than South Shore Drive), eastbound on 53rd Street to South Shore Drive, then southbound on South Shore to Shoreland Hall, continuing south to 55th Street.

At the intersection of South Hyde Park Boulevard and 55th Street, the route heads either north or south. When coming from campus (i.e., if you boarded south of 55th Street), the bus will always turn north when it reaches this intersection. When heading toward campus (i.e., if you boarded north of 55th Street), the bus will always turn south when it reaches this intersection. The dashboard-level sign in the bus window displays the direction in which the bus will turn from 55th Street.
