Hit season to close with The Cherry Orchard, An Ideal Husband

The comic tragedy The Cherry Orchard and the sharply witty An Ideal Husband will play in rotating repertory at Court Theatre, the final productions of a season that has met with continued critical acclaim.

Court Theatre's Artistic Director, Charles Newell, will lead the same team of actors and designers in the two plays, which open on Friday, Feb. 27, with the premiere performance of The Cherry Orchard. An Ideal Husband will open on Wednesday, March 4. Both productions will continue through May 3.

Director Newell won the Joseph Jefferson Award in 1993 for Court Theatre's production of The Triumph of Love and again in 1996 for Court's Celimene and the Cardinal. Leading the ensemble of actors who perform in both The Cherry Orchard and An Ideal Husband are Anne Dudek, Cheryl Graeff, Bradley Mott, John Reeger, Hollis Resnik and Barbara Robertson.

Preview performances of both plays will continue through March 14; tickets range from $20 to $24. Tickets for regular performances, beginning March 15, range from $24 to $32. New this year is a Rep Pak, which offers discounted tickets to patrons who are interested in seeing both productions.

For performance dates and times, see the Calendar, pages 6-8. For tickets, call the Court Theatre box office, 753-4472.
