    Winter delight: Skating on Midway

With winter weather comes snow and ice, and a group of University students couldn't be happier about it. Skating on the Midway, a new Registered Student Organization, is busily preparing for a new season of, well, skating on the Midway.

Formed last year with the help of the University Community Service Center, Skating on the Midway takes advantage of the annual ice rink on the Midway Plaisance to teach local students from Woodlawn Community School and other area schools how to skate. Volunteers, who will be trained in teaching and first aid, will offer workshops and regular classes (such as those for physical education credit) to the schools. Skating on the Midway currently has 15 volunteers, but is looking for more. Call 753-GIVE (4483) for more information.

The skating rink is scheduled to open Wednesday, Nov. 26. See the Calendar in the next issue of the Chronicle (Nov. 20) for hours and fees.
