Cards designed by young patients support Children's Hospital

Holiday greeting cards designed by patients at the University of Chicago Children's Hospital are available for purchase now through the month of December. Proceeds will be used to buy toys and educational materials for the hospital playroom.

Four designs are available -- a snowman, snowflakes, mittens, and kids around the world. Patients at the University of Chicago Children's Hospital range from toddlers to teenagers, and many suffer from cancer, liver disease, burns or other serious medical problems.

"Buying these cards directly benefits the young patients at the University of Chicago Children's Hospital," said Karen Peck, Child Life Specialist. "It's a wonderful way to celebrate the season of giving."

The cards contain a printed holiday message, and on the back of each card is the name of the child artist. Each box of 20 cards may be purchased for $15 (plus $4 for shipping). The Holiday Card Project was underwritten by the Linda and Jeffrey Wolfson Family Foundation, Available Business Group and Royal Envelope Company.

Cards may be purchased in the Child Life & Family Education Department on the lower level of the Children's Hospital, Room C-10. To order by phone, call (888) UCH-0200, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Orders may also be faxed to 702-3812 or e-mailed to Karen Peck at kpeck@mcis.bsd.uchicago.edu. Visa, MasterCard and American Express are accepted.
