    Charity campaign: Chance to win airfare, Bulls tickets and more

    Contributors to "Giving to Help," the University's Campaign for the United Way and Other Charities, have a chance to win free airfare on United Airlines, tickets to a Chicago Bulls game, health club memberships, theater tickets, gift certificates and many other prizes. Faculty and staff members who contribute to the campaign will automatically be eligible to win a raffle prize.

    Campus organizations and Chicago-area businesses, including many in Hyde Park, have donated prizes for the raffle, which will be held in January. The raffle prizes include: _ GRAND PRIZE - Two round-trip coach tickets on United Airlines for any destination (limited to $1,000 total); donated by United Airlines in cooperation with Arrington Travel Center

    _ Two tickets to a Chicago Bulls home game in February 1997; donated by the Chicago Bulls

    _ Two 3-month memberships to The Regents Club, a health club with an indoor-outdoor swimming pool, Cybex, aerobics and more; located in Regents Park, 5020 South Lake Shore Drive; donated by Regents Park by The Clinton Company

    _ Two 1-month memberships to The Regents Club; donated by Regents Park by The Clinton Company

    _ A weekend in the V.I.P. Suite at Regents Park (based upon availability) Donated by Regents Park by The Clinton Company

    _ Two tickets for the Budapest Festival Orchestra Concert on Feb. 2 in Mandel Hall

    _ Two tickets for the Michala Petri/Lars Hannibal Recital on Feb. 14 in Mandel Hall

    _ Two tickets for the London Baroque Concert on April 4 in Mandel Hall

    _ Two tickets for the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra Concert on April 15 in Mandel Hall; concert tickets donated by the Concert Office, the Department of Music and the Professional Concert Series.

    _ Two tickets to Court Theatre's production of Carmen; donated by Court Theatre

    _ Dinner for two at Dixie Kitchen & Bait Shop; donated by Dixie Kitchen & Bait Shop, 5225 S. Harper Ave.

    _ Dinner for two at Piccolo Mondo; donated by Piccolo Mondo, 1642 E. 56th St.

    _ Two deli trays worth up to $25 each from Market in the Park; donated by Regents Park by The Clinton Company

    _ Three $100 gift certificates for any purchase at Campus Computer Stores; donated by the University Computing Organizations

    _ Five $50 gift certificates for any purchase at University of Chicago Bookstore; donated by the University of Chicago Bookstore

    _ One $25 gift certificate for any purchase at the International House Gift Shop; donated by International House

    _ One 6-inch round cake of the day at La Brioche Bakery, 1658 E. 55th St.; donated by La Brioche Bakery

    _ Four $25 gift certificates for any catering, gift-basket or other store purchase at Spoonful Inc., 2346 N. Clark St.; donated by Spoonful Inc.

    _ One mummy bead necklace; donated by the Suq Museum Shop at the Oriental Institute

    _ One autographed Chicago Blackhawks inaugural program; donated by the Chicago Blackhawks

    _ Two autographed photos of Chicago White Sox players; donated by the Chicago White Sox Through the University's United Way and Other Charities Campaign, members of the faculty and staff may support any established charity in the United States. Over 160 independent organizations, including various programs within the University, benefited from last year's campaign.

    In 1995-96, the University community contributed over $114,000 to the United Way and over $128,000 to other charities. The goal this year is to increase the participation rate above last year's and raise at least $250,000 for charitable organizations.

    To contribute to the University's United Way and Other Charities Campaign, simply fill out and return either the yellow or the blue card included in the campaign information sent to all employees. Gifts may be made to the United Way or to a specific charity. Options include payroll deduction and making a cash contribution.

    Employees who have not received a pledge card can get one by contacting Human Resources at 702-9600.
