Special rate on child care offered at YMCA

Before-school and after-school care is now available for children of University faculty and staff members at the South Side YMCA. In addition, the service is provided at a substantially reduced fee.

The Before and After School Program at the South Side YMCA, initiated this fall, serves families of students in grades 1 through 8 who attend schools in the Hyde Park, Woodlawn and South Shore neighborhoods. Located at the YMCA's main facility at 63rd Street and Stony Island Avenue, the program is available from 7 to 8:30 a.m. and from 2 to 6 p.m. and includes transportation to and from selected local schools.

The weekly cost is $35 for families of University faculty and staff members. This fee is reduced from the $50 weekly rate for YMCA members and $60 for nonmembers.

Faculty, staff and students of the University are also eligible for a 20 percent discount on annual membership at the South Side YMCA. Monthly fees, with the discount applied, range from $18.60 for a single adult to $28.26 for a two-parent family. A one-time joining fee of $60 is not eligible for discount.

For more information on the Before and After School Program or membership at the YMCA, call 947-0700 or Shirlee Holiday in the Benefits Office at 702-4061.
