Student performances take center stage at renovated C-Shop

A completely renovated C-Shop opened in Reynolds Club this week. "The room was designed to carry the architectural style of the last 100 years into the next 100," said Stephen Klass, Director of Auxiliary Services.

At the front of the new C-Shop is an ornate counter and coffee bar featuring fresh-baked goods, premium ice cream and yogurt, coffees and cappuccino.

The rest of the space is devoted to a dining area with new tables and booths, a reconstructed ceiling with gothic arches and a new stage at the west end of the room, occupying an area that was previously storage space. The stage is designed for student performances during evening hours.

The new C-Shop will be open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The performance stage will be available to individual student performers and student groups every evening. With permission, use of the stage may extend until the building closes at 2 a.m.

"The new C-Shop is a wonderful addition to Reynolds Club and will give students even more room to relax and hang out in the building," said Bill Michel, Director of Reynolds Club and Student Activities. "The new performance space, and the opportunity it provides for an expanded series of shows in Reynolds Club, really excited the students who have been involved in planning the project from the beginning.

"That," added Michel, "and the fact that Wednesday $1 Shake Days are back again."
