Police intensify probe of missing portrait

University officials turned over to police more information regarding the portrait of President Emeritus Hanna Gray that was stolen from Hutchinson Commons in April.

"We still hope the pranksters will return the portrait unharmed," said Jonathan Kleinbard, Vice President for University News & Community Affairs, "but we have enough information now that the police investigation should move ahead quickly. If the portrait comes back before there is an arrest, we will be very happy. The value of the portrait makes this a serious felony."
