    25 Year Club: 8,257 years of service

    Annual ceremony honors longtime University employees Members of the 25 Year Club gathered at the home of President Sonnenschein for its annual award ceremony on May 20. The club honors staff members who have completed 25 or more years of consecutive service. Arthur Sussman, General Counsel for the University, officiated at the ceremony.

    Currently, there are 278 active employees who have worked at the University for 25 or more years, representing a total of 8,257 years of service to the University. Of these employees, 13 have worked for 40 or more years. These 13 employees constitute the 25 Year Club's board of trustees, and this year the trustees each received a commemorative glass box in honor of their longtime service to the University.

    The trustees are Donald Allison, Library; Alice Chandler, President's Office, who marked 50 years of service this year; Harold Eckard, Facilities Services; Mary Halaburt, Biochemistry & Molecular Biology; Margaret Larkin, James Franck Institute; Dale McIlwaine, Central Shop; Matthew Nitecki, Evolutionary Biology; Barbara Perkins, Astronomy & Astrophysics; Paul Petrie, Real Estate Operations; Donald Poder, Central Procurement; Lesley Robertson, Animal Resources Center; Artie Scott, College; and Claude Weil, International House.

    The ceremony included the selection of a new club president from the board of trustees. Lesley Robertson, the 1995-96 president, turned the gavel over to Donald Poder, who will serve as president of the club for the 1996-97 academic year.
