    Shiu appointed PSD Dean of Students

    (photo) Joan Shiu, Manager of Administrative and Student Services in the Chemistry Department, has been named the new Dean of Students in the Physical Sciences Division, effective July 1. Gregory Boshart, who has been Dean of Students for the division since 1988, will return to full-time duties in Chemistry, where he is Executive Officer and Chairman of Graduate Admissions.

    "I would like to take this opportunity to express the gratitude of the entire division to Greg for his many years of high-quality service to the division and to the University during his tenure in that position," said David Oxtoby, Dean of the Physical Sciences Division. "I look forward to Joan, who has so ably served the Chemistry Department, continuing that tradition."

    Shiu has been a University staff member in the Chemistry Department since 1963. She began as a secretary and was promoted to Administrative Assistant in Student Affairs. She has been Manager of Administrative and Student Services since 1988.
