Lake Shore Drive project to begin

Hyde Parkers are urged to take alternative routes or allow more time for driving when the Lake Shore Drive improvement project begins, which may be as early as tomorrow, March 15. The project, when completed, will move all lanes of Lake Shore Drive to the west side of the Field Museum and Soldier Field.

During the two-year project, three lanes of Lake Shore Drive will remain open in both directions on the east side of the Field Museum and Soldier Field. The easiest route for people traveling north from Hyde Park will be to take Drexel Boulevard north, turning left on 39th Street, Pershing Road or 31st Street to Indiana Avenue or Michigan Avenue. Drivers heading south to Hyde Park should take Michigan Avenue.
