    Library Review Committee appointed

The Library Review Committee invites members of the University community to submit comments on any issue pertaining to the University Library, its current role in the University or its future.

"This is a time of great change in the life of libraries, and we have not as a university recently taken stock of the place of our library in teaching and research," said Randal Picker, Professor in the Law School and chair of the Library Review Committee. "Provost Geoffrey Stone has appointed this committee to assess the University Library and to report to him and to the Library Board."

Comments in the form of e-mail, letters or phone calls should be directed to Linda Asher, Provost's Office, Administration 502. The e-mail address is: librev@uchicago.edu. Individual meetings will be scheduled as appropriate.

The other members of the Library Review Committee are Daniel Garber, Associate Provost and the Lawrence Kimpton Distinguished Service Professor in Philosophy; John Huizinga, the Walter David "Bud" Fackler Professor in the Graduate School of Business; David Jablonski, Professor in Geophysical Sciences; Janet Johnson, Professor in the Oriental Institute; David Liebovitz, Instructor in Medicine; Robert Pippin, Professor and Chairman of the Committee on Social Thought; Lisa Ruddick, Associate Professor in English Language & Literature; and Theodore Steck, Professor in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology.
