Grants available for University-Argonne scientific collaborations

A new joint grant program has been established to encourage collaboration between researchers at the University and researchers at Argonne National Laboratory.

"The program is designed to encourage University faculty members and Argonne scientists to collaborate on areas of mutual intellectual interest that would lead to longterm enhancement of the University-Argonne scientific relationship," said Robert Zimmer, Associate Provost and chairman of the U of C/ANL grant advisory group.

The University of Chicago/Argonne National Laboratory Collaborative Grants will be awarded on a competitive basis by a committee appointed jointly by Argonne and the University. Each proposal must have two or more principal investigators, including at least one from each institution. A request for proposals has been sent to members of both institutions, and the deadline for applications is Friday, Dec. 15. Approximately $400,000 is available for the first year of the program.
