    Live blues, jazz, gospel at outdoor benefit for Woodlawn community

    The sounds of live blues, jazz and gospel music will accompany an outdoor dinner from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, in the Woodlawn community.

    "Come Home to Woodlawn" will take place under a party tent on 62nd Street between Woodlawn and Kimbark avenues. Musical performances are scheduled for 1, 2 and 4 p.m. A special presentation with actor, producer, singer and writer Oscar Brown Jr. will take place at 3 p.m. Guided walks of the neighborhood will be held every half-hour.

    The event is sponsored by Woodlawn Development Associates, an organization committed to "building urban community from the inside out." WDA works to provide educational and recreational activities, affordable housing and employment opportunities to strengthen the Woodlawn community.
