    Mathematics education projects focus of Gateways IV conference

    The University of Chicago School Mathematics Project (UCSMP) and the Teaching Integrated Math and Science project of the University of Illinois at Chicago will host 15 projects funded by the National Science Foundation at Gateways IV, a conference to be held on campus Saturday, Oct. 7, through Monday, Oct. 9.

    A public forum on the projects, including UCSMP, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9, in Max Palevsky Cinema, Ida Noyes Hall. Teachers, students, administrators and parents will report on the impact of the projects. Brief remarks will be made by Jack Gibbons, President Clinton's science advisor; Neal Lane, director of the NSF; and Luther Williams, NSF assistant director for education and human resources.
