Police seeking suspect in attempted robbery on campus

Police are looking for a teenager, thought to be about 16, who entered a basement room in the Erman Biology Center on Thursday, May 4, turned off the lights and tried to rob an undergraduate student working there.

As he was going through the student's pockets, a graduate student entered the room, turned on the lights and struggled with the offender. The offender escaped without harming either student or taking anything.

Witnesses said the suspect had been seen around the building during the past two weeks. He is described as African-American, approximately 5'10", 130 to 140 pounds, of medium build and with a dark complexion and no facial hair. Extra police have been patrolling the area since the incident.
