25 Year Club: 7,809 years of University service

Members of the 25 Year Club donned University of Chicago baseball caps, and President Sonnenschein presented watches to the 36 newest members at the club's annual award ceremony at the Quadrangle Club on May 3. The club honors staff members who have completed 25 or more years of consecutive service.

Arthur Sussman, General Counsel for the University, officiated at the ceremony.

Currently, there are 263 active employees who have worked at the University for 25 or more years, representing a total of 7,809 years of service to the University. Of these employees, 12 have worked for 40 or more years. These 12 employees constitute the 25 Year Club's Board of Trustees, and this year the trustees each received a pen-and-pencil set in honor of their longtime service to the University.

The trustees are: Donald Allison, Library; Alice Chandler, President's Office; Harold Eckard, Facilities Planning & Management; Margaret Larkin, James Franck Institute; Dale McIlwaine, Central Shop; Barbara Perkins, Astronomy & Astrophysics; Paul Petrie, Real Estate Operations; Donald Poder, Purchasing; Lesley Robertson, Animal Resources Center; Robert Schnoor, Library; Artie Scott, College; and Claude Weil, International House.

The ceremony included the selection of a new club president from the board of trustees. Barbara Perkins, the 1994-95 president, turned the gavel over to Lesley Robertson, who will serve as president of the club for the 1995-96 academic year.
