    Winter fun during 'Kuvia'

The University's weeklong celebration of winter, Kuviasungnerk, will be held from Monday, Jan. 16, through Saturday, Jan. 21. In addition to the traditional outdoor activities, the festival will include a party and a concert by Chicago blues legend Buddy Guy.

A free breakfast of coffee and doughnuts will be offered on the Main Quadrangle each weekday morning during the festival. Weekday mornings will also feature kangeiko (calisthenics) at 6:30 a.m. at Henry Crown Field House -- except Thursday, Jan. 19, when the early-morning workout will begin with a 6:30 a.m. jog from Woodward Court to the Point for kangeiko on the lake shore and a salute to the sun.

The revelry will move to Ida Noyes Hall at the end of the week. The annual Kuvia party will be held from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20. The party, which will include entertainment and refreshments, is free and open to students, faculty and staff. A blues concert by Buddy Guy, sponsored by the Major Activities Board, will begin at 9 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21. For ticket information, call 702-9554.

COUP is sponsoring all other Kuviasungnerk activities, including study breaks at 9:30 p.m. on Monday through Thursday of Kuviasungnerk week.
