President Sonnenschein's letter to University community

Dear Member of the University Community: I write to ask you to join me in contributing to the University's 1994-95 Campaign for the United Way/Crusade of Mercy and Other Charities -- a campaign that allows you to support any charity you choose.

In order to respond to the problems of homelessness, child abuse and other social ills, it is increasingly important that charitable agencies receive assistance from those of us who are willing and able to give. Through the University's Campaign, we have a chance to make sure that a few more families can afford shelter, a few more children will not go to bed hungry and an older adult will receive needed health care.

Last year, our Campaign raised over $243,000, with more than 1,200 employees participating. By giving to the United Way and other charities, together we can make a tremendous difference in the lives of our neighbors.

The University's Campaign seeks to foster the spirit of giving while permitting employees to support any U.S. charity, including other umbrella organizations besides the United Way.

Please review the Campaign information that you will receive in the coming weeks and pledge your support to the charity of your choice. Your gift will help ensure a better future not only for those in need, but for all of us.

    Sincerely, Hugo Sonnenschein
