Music, magic at Chapel Festival Day

Entertainment by a magician, several a cappella singing groups and a puppet troupe will highlight Chapel Festival Day, Rockefeller Memorial Chapel's celebration of the new academic year, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9.

The day will begin with a worship service at 10 a.m.; Bernard Brown, Dean of the Chapel, will deliver the sermon, and music for the interdenominational service will be provided by organist Wolfgang Ruebsam and the Rockefeller Chapel Choir, under the direction of Bruce Tammen.

Following the service, a fall-harvest luncheon will be served on the lawn, weather permitting. Entertainment will be provided by a magician, a face painter and student a cappella groups, including the Clashin' Tweeds, Maj'n and Unaccompanied Women. The puppet troupe Roberts Marionettes will perform a French Canadian tale, "The Talking Cat." A community sing of favorite and familiar madrigals will be held, and tours of the carillon and the organ chamber will be offered.

All events are free and open to the public. For more information, call 702-2100.
