Free concerts continue

What better accompaniment to a hot summer night than a steamy set of the blues? The Summer Concerts series continues tonight, July 14, with a performance by blues musicians Erwin Helfer & Catherine Davis at the Hyde Park Shopping Center, 55th Street and Lake Park Avenue. The concerts, which are free and open to the public, are held on Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m. The series began June 16 and continues through Aug. 11.

The schedule of remaining concerts follows.

July 14 -- Erwin Helfer & Catherine Davis (blues)

July 21 -- Jeff Newell's New Orleans Jazz Octet (jazz)

July 28 -- Joan Collaso and the Larry Hanks Trio (jazz vocals)

Aug. 4 -- Tuey Connell Group (jazz)

Aug. 11 -- Los Cantores Guaranies (Paraguayan folk music)

Food and beverages are available for purchase during the concerts, which are being presented by the Merchants' Association of the Hyde Park Shopping Center. For more information, call 938-1969.
