    Outdoor concerts continue

    The 1994 Summer Concerts series continues on Thursday evenings at Hyde Park Shopping Center, 55th Street and Lake Park Avenue. The concerts, which are free and open to the public, are held from 6 to 8 p.m.

    The concert tonight, June 9, will feature Raices del Ande performing folk music from the Andes Mountains. The concert on June 23 will feature John Wright, a bluegrass banjo player and scholar who is professor and chairman of the classics department at Northwestern. Wright will be introduced by his longtime friend W.R. Johnson, the John Matthews Manly Distinguished Service Professor in Classical Languages & Literatures at Chicago. The schedule of remaining concerts follows.

    June 9 -- Raices del Ande (Andes Mountains music)

    June 16 -- Texas Rubies (country blues)

    June 23 -- John Wright (bluegrass)

    June 30 -- Jim Beebe's Chicago Jazz Band: A Salute to the Fourth of July

    July 14 -- Erwin Helfer & Catherine Davis (blues)

    July 21 -- TBA

    July 28 -- TBA

    Aug. 4 -- Tuey Connell Group (jazz)

    Aug. 11 -- Los Cantares (Paraguayan folk music)
