    New homes under construction

Plaisance Place, a development of 28 quality single-family homes priced from $140,000, is currently under construction in the block bounded by 61st and 62nd streets and Greenwood and Ellis avenues.

Plans call for the first site to be a cluster of eight homes with a private drive and security-gate access for both vehicular and pedestrian entry. Each of the three-story, 1,875-square-foot homes will have three bedrooms, two baths and unfinished space suitable for another room and a third bath. The homes are designed in the Prairie School style of architecture.

The first model home of the development, which is a joint venture of the Woodlawn Preservation & Investment Corporation (WPIC) and Thrush Companies, is nearing completion at the corner of Greenwood Avenue and 61st Street, across the street from the Law School. The University has cooperated with WPIC in helping to launch the development.

An information booth for interested buyers will be set up in the Ida Noyes Hall library from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19. For more information, call Thrush Development at 363-1581 or the University Housing Office at 702-3420.
