Holgate named Acting V.P. for Development, Alumni Relatio

Randy Holgate has been appointed Acting Vice President for Development & Alumni Relations while a national search is conducted to find a successor for Warren Heemann.

Heemann has resigned as Vice President for Development & Alumni Relations and will be leaving the University at the end of February. To ensure a smooth transition for the Campaign for the Next Century, he has agreed to serve as a Vice President of the University until then, acting as an adviser to President Sonnenschein in a variety of areas, including alumni and donor relations.

Holgate, who has been Associate Vice President for Development & Alumni Relations since 1990, joined the University's Development staff in 1979 as Director of the President's Fund and Associate Director for Annual Giving.

"I am grateful to Warren for the important contributions he has made to the University of Chicago, and I very much appreciate his willingness to help the University by staying on during the transition," said President Sonnenschein. "He has played a major role in planning the Campaign for the Next Century and has provided leadership in a successful effort that has so far raised $310 million toward our half-billion-dollar goal.

"I am confident that under Randy's direction we will continue to make great progress in the campaign and that we will press ahead vigorously with our development and alumni-relations agenda."
