President Sonnenschein's letter to University community

    November, 1993

Dear Members of the University Community:

I write to ask you to join me in contributing to the University's 1993-1994 Campaign for the United Way/Crusade of Mercy and Other Charities.

For many in our community, the line between making ends meet and struggling for survival is precariously thin. Through the University's campaign, we have a chance to make sure that a few more families can afford shelter, a few more children will not go to bed hungry, and an older adult will receive health care.

Last year, our collective contribution to the United Way and Other Charities Campaign totaled $226,000, with over 1,000 employees participating. As these figures suggest, by giving to the United Way and other charities, together we can make a tremendous difference in the lives of our neighbors.

Please review the Campaign information that you will receive in the coming weeks and pledge your support to the charity of your choice. It will help ensure a better future not only for those in need, but for our friends, families and ourselves.

    Yours sincerely, Hugo Sonnenschein
