Women's Board appoints Levi as chair

The University Women's Board is gearing up for the next fiscal year with the appointment of a new board chair and the disbursement of grants that support faculty research, cultural institutions and the arts, the quality of student life and community outreach projects.

The Women's Board has appointed Chicago alumna Jill Levi (A.M.,'78) to serve as chair of the board. A member of the Women's Board since 2004 and of the board's Steering Committee since 2005, Levi began a three-year term as chair on Sunday, July 1.

A graduate of the School of Social Service Administration, Levi worked for a number of years at the University Hospitals as a pediatric social worker. She has served on a variety of committees at the Francis W. Parker School in Chicago and has been involved in supporting many social agencies in the Chicago area, including Chicago Sinai Congregation as project chair for community outreach.

Levi is married to John Levi, a member of the Visiting Committee for the University Hospitals and a Trustee of the University's Brain Research Foundation board. John Levi's late father, Edward Levi, was a former President of the University.

The Women's Board has approved nearly $385,000 in funding to support 19 projects across campus during this academic year.
