Associate Comptroller moves into Comptroller position as of July 1

John Kroll, Associate Comptroller for Accounting and Financial Management Reporting, has been appointed Comptroller of the University, effective Sunday, July 1.

Kroll will oversee and have responsibility for the integrity of the financial records and accounts of the University and disbursement of funds from its treasury. He also will have management responsibility for the units within the Comptroller’s Office.

“Those of you who have worked with John know that he is eminently qualified for the position, and that he has a sense of humor that helps make even the most difficult topics a bit more bearable,” wrote President Zimmer and Donald Reaves, Vice President for the Administration and Chief Financial Officer, in an announcement they sent to deans and officers.

“The University is fortunate to benefit from John’s considerable talents and experiences in his new leadership role,” they noted.

Before joining the University in 1982, Kroll, a Certified Public Accountant, worked for several years for Deloitte & Touche, a firm that provides audit, tax, consulting and financial advisory services.

He has earned recognition for his teaching and volunteer work with the National Association of College and University Business Officers, including receiving the Daniel B. Robinson Award in 2001.

Kroll received his B.A. in accounting from Augustana College.
