Meeting to cover plans for South Winter Garden on Midway

A community meeting will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Thursday, April 26, in the Coulter Lounge at International House to review the design for the South Winter Garden. The garden will be located on the Midway Plaisance, in an area bounded by Woodlawn Avenue, 60th Street, Ellis Avenue and South Plaisance Drive.

The South Winter Garden is the next phase of the 2000 Midway Plaisance Master Plan, and it will be developed much like the North Winter Garden to provide year-round visual interest through the use of plants and foliage that provide texture, light and color.

The landscape architects for the project, Site Design Group, will present their design and answer any questions regarding the proposed plan. The proposed South Winter Garden project is jointly funded by the University and the Chicago Park District and is scheduled for installation this year.

Representatives of the Chicago Park District and the University will be present at the meeting, which will be held in International House, 1414 E. 59th St.
