    Tuition increases 5.4 percent


    The University Board of Trustees approved an overall 5.4 percent increase in the total for tuition, student fees, and room and board.

    Financial aid also will be increased in the fall in order for students and their families to meet the increasing tuition costs, said Alicia Reyes, Director of College Aid.

    About 56 percent of College students are currently receiving financial assistance, Reyes said.

    Annual College tuition for the 2007-2008 school year will be $35,169, up 5.5 percent from this year’s $33,336.

    Room and board costs will be $11,139, a 5 percent increase from this year’s bill of $10,608.

    Student fees, including health and student activity fees, will increase 4.5 percent to $699 in the fall from this year’s $669.

    The total cost to College students for the 2007-2008 school year will be $47,007, up from the $44,613 total cost this year.
