Smart Museum of Art The Smart Museum of Art invites children of all ages and their families to a free afternoon of art, activities and tours on Sunday, July 16, from 1 to 4 p.m. The afternoon will include song and dance, an interactive musical performance by the Lira Ensemble, the nation’s only professional performing arts company specializing in Polish music and dance, and a family tour of the Museum. Family Day is best for children ages 3 and up. An adult must accompany children at all times. The Oriental Institute Museum Geoff Emberling, Oriental Institute Museum Director, will lead a gallery tour highlighting the ancient Near East during the reign of ancient Egypt's King Tutankhamun. Participants are invited to view rare art and artifacts and discover an era of internationalism that linked the land of the pharaohs with ancient Nubia, Mesopotamia, Turkey and Israel. Meet in the lobby of the Oriental Institute. This event is free and open to the public.
Doc Films Doc Films, the oldest student-run film group in the country, specializes in top-quality recent releases as well as the finest films of the 20th and 21st centuries. The summer 2006 screening schedule features films Wednesday through Saturday until late August.
