    Tuition, financial aid packages increased

    The University Board of Trustees approved a 5.3 percent increase in the total for tuition, room and board, health fees and student activity costs at its Thursday, Feb. 2 meeting.

    Annual College tuition, currently $31,629, will increase to $33,336 for the 2006-2007 school year.

    Room and board costs will increase to $10,608 from this year’s $10,104.

    The health fee, $459 this year, will rise to $483 in the fall, and the student activity fee will increase from $177 this year to $186 next year.

    The total cost to College students for the 2006-2007 school year will be $44,613, up 5.3 percent from the $42,369 total cost this year.

    Alicia Reyes, Director of College Aid, said financial aid also will increase in the fall in order for students and their families to meet the increasing costs.

    Fifty-six percent of College students currently receive financial assistance.

    Reyes noted that all 2006-2007 incoming students in need of financial aid will receive it.
