Maroon women receive accolades on court

The Chicago Maroons women’s basketball team placed fourth in the University Athletic Association with a 9-5 conference record, their best conference finish since the1999-2000 basketball season. College third-year Susie Gutowski (below, shooting) and second-year Korry Schwanz were selected to the 2004-2005 All-UAA women’s basketball first team. This season marks the first time in the 18-year history of the UAA that Chicago has placed two players on the All-UAA first team. This is Gutowski’s third appearance on the All-UAA team. She was second-team pick a year ago, and the league’s Rookie of the Year and an honorable mention selection in the 2002-2003 season. Third-year Janae Winner (above) and first-year Nofi Mojidi also garnered All-UAA accolades, receiving honorable mentions. Serving in his first year as head coach, Aaron Roussell led Chicago through its most winning season since 1994-1995, with a 16-9 overall record.
