Men’s cross country team wins championship
Led by senior Jerome Tharaud, the University men’s cross country team won the 2004 University Athletic Association Championship Saturday, Oct. 30, at the University of Rochester. This UAA title is Chicago’s second in the past three seasons. Chicago finished one point ahead of runner-up Washington University. The Maroons, who had five runners place among the top 21, totaled 59 points to 60 for Washington. Tharaud captured fifth place overall with a time of 26:23 on the eight-kilometer course en route to garnering All-UAA first team recognition. Three other Maroons earned All-Association second team accolades. Third-year Teage O’Connor, second-year Brian Hague and third-year Pat Hogan finished 10th, 11th and 12th, respectively, with times of 26:44, 26:45 and 26:54.
