John Boyer, Dean of the College and the Martin A. Ryerson Distinguished Service Professor in History and the College, received one of the Republic of Austria’s highest academic honors earlier this summer. In recognition of his research and publications on the history of the Hapsburg Empire and the Austrian Republic, Boyer was awarded the Cross of Honor for Science and Art, First Class. Boyer received his cross from Austrian Consul General Elisabeth Kehrer at a reception in Chicago. Thirty colleagues from the University attended the event.
