    Walthes receives 2004 Richman Award

Stephanie Walthes, Administrator of Educational Grants in the Department of Mathematics, has been honored with the 2004 Marlene F. Richman Award for Excellence and Dedication in Service to Students.

This year’s award is the second to be given to a University staff member who demonstrates the highest levels of dedication, care and compassion in the service of students.

The award is presented by the Office of the Vice President and Dean of Students in the University as well as the President of Student Government.

More than 70 students wrote letters of nomination for the award, and students in Mathematics described Walthes’ thoughtfulness in helping them with the logistics of their classes and other activities.

“She has been unfailingly helpful and cheerful toward me and everyone she interacts with,” wrote one student in a nomination letter.

The award is named for Marlene Richman, whose career at the University spanned more than four decades.

Richman was a Resident Master of Burton-Judson Courts, and she worked as a Career & Placement Services counselor for 36 years.
