    Bensen elected to chair University Women’s Board


    Katharine Bensen (A.B.,’80) will begin a three-year term as Chair of the University Women’s Board, effective Thursday, July 1.

    Bensen has been a member of the Women’s Board since 1995 and has served on the Steering Committee since 1998.

    Bensen also has served as a member of the Visiting Committee to the College.

    Bensen, a lawyer, received the Young Alumni Service Citation in 1994.

    From 1995 to 2002, she served on the Alumni Board of Governors, of which she was President from 2000 to 2002. During her tenure, she was instrumental in the creation of Alumni House, which opened its doors Oct. 28, 2003, in the former McCormick Theological Seminary building at Woodlawn Avenue and 56th Street.

    Bensen is married to fellow University alumnus Richard Johnson.

    The Women’s Board will support 18 projects and programs at the University in the next academic year.
