Memorial service set for Harris

A memorial service to celebrate the life of the late Chauncy D. Harris, the Samuel N. Harper Distinguished Service Professor Emeritus in Geography, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 16, in Bond Chapel, 1025 E. 58th St.

A reception will follow in the adjacent Swift Hall.

Harris, who was both a pioneering geographer of the Soviet Union and a leader in other fields of the discipline, including political, economic and urban geography, died Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, in his Hyde Park home.

He was 89.
