Rosa McCullagh (center), a mathematics teacher at University High School, is one of 10 Chicago-area teachers to receive the prestigious Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching. Each of the winners receives a tuition-free fall-term sabbatical at Northwestern University; $2,500; and a personal computer from Apple. McCullagh, who has taught at the Laboratory Schools since 1995, was praised for setting high standards and engaging her students in learning.
