    Web calendar redesigned

In conjunction with the Provost’s Office, Student Services and the News Office, the Web Services group in Networking Services and Information Technologies has redesigned the University-wide Web calendar.

The calendar, which is on the Web at http://events.uchicago.edu/campusevents/, organizes the many activities and events that are open to the public or to the University community.

“Our new, central calendar enables the University better to represent the richness of cultural and intellectual life on campus,” said Provost Richard Saller. “The more that people use it to announce their programs, the more useful this calendar will become to us all.”

Members of the University community may click the “Add Event” link on the calendar page to enter their own events, such as public lectures, concerts, conferences held on campus, exhibitions, doctoral lectures, films and colloquia with broad appeal beyond individual departments. However, groups should continue in the usual way to submit requests for inclusion in the print calendar published in The University of Chicago Chronicle. The redesigned central Web calendar is meant to complement the Chronicle Calendar.

Users of the Web calendar also may choose to receive an automatic e-mail each week reminding them of upcoming campus events drawn from the calendar.
