    Where science meets art

    ss-head
These images were taken from the short film, Cornstarch, by Eric Corwin, Terry Bigioni and Matthias Möbius, which tied for first place with Oliver Gaycken’s Environmental Plastic Film in the “sights” category of the first Sounds and Sights of Science contest. The Materials Research Science and Engineering Center sponsored the contest, which was intended to provoke dialogue between the arts and the sciences. Corwin and Möbius are Ph.D. students in Physics, and Bigioni is a Research Assistant in the James Franck Institute. Other winners in the sights category are Justin Cassidy, a student in the Biological Sciences Division, who took second place; and Krishnan Chakravarthi, a student in Biological Sciences, and David Choi, a student in Music, who received honorable mention. In the “sounds” category, Elliott Brennan (A.B.,’03) took first place for eight short sound pieces, with Joe Ochiltree, a student in Physics, coming in second and Allison Ogden, a student in Music, earning honorable mention.
