    ACCOLADES

The Eastern Sociological Society has recognized the General Social Survey of the National Opinion Research Center at the University as a “sociological success.”

Established in 1972, the General Social Survey is a comprehensive survey of American society that has become a frequently cited source of data for sociologists and other scholars.

The society also has recognized the survey’s organizers, James Davis, Senior Lecturer in Sociology and Research Associate in the NORC; Tom Smith, Director of the General Social Survey; and Peter Marsden, NORC researcher, for their “distinguished contributions to sociology.”
