Two members of the Laboratory Schools class of 1999 have received prestigious scholarships to study in Britain.

Chesa Boudin, a senior at Yale University, received a Rhodes scholarship to study at Oxford University. “It’s a great opportunity and a great honor,” Boudin said. “Ideally, some day I’d like to be in a position to impact and help direct U.S. relations with Latin America.”

Chris Laumann, a senior at Harvard University, received a Marshall Scholarship and will attend the University of Edinburgh, where he intends to study computer science and electrical engineering. In Scotland, Laumann will be building on experience he had as a research assistant for Nancy Stein, Professor in Psychology.

“I developed a computer program that helped her analyze the texts of narratives. The program sorted words and phrases as they were used in conflicts,” he said.
