    University Board of Trustees elects GSB alumna to serve as trustee

    Kathryn Gould (M.B.A., ’78)

    The University Board of Trustees elected Kathryn Gould (M.B.A., ’78) to the board at its Thursday, Oct. 24 meeting.

    Gould is a founding partner at Foundation Capital, a venture capital firm that serves start-up companies in their formative stages.

    The firm’s primary investment areas include enterprise and Internet software, communications and networking, technical software and semiconductors. Before founding Foundation Capital in 1995, she was a general partner at Merrill, Pickard, Anderson & Eyre.

    After earning a B.S. in physics from the University of Toronto, Gould worked as a physicist at Argonne National Laboratory. She received her M.B.A. from the Chicago GSB in 1978. She currently is a member of the Council on the Graduate School of Business. She also has served on the GSB’s Entrepreneurship Advisory Board, and as a judge in the GSB’s New Venture Challenge.

    Gould currently serves on the boards of several companies, including Interwoven, Chordiant Software, Vivace Network and Air Fiber.

    She also founded the Magnum Opus Project, a foundation that supports and encourages composers of new orchestral music.
