Eight students who entered the College in the Fall Quarter were recently honored with a reception in Ida Noyes Hall. As children of Chicago police officers and firefighters, the students were able to enroll in the College last fall with the assistance of a University scholarship program developed specifically to aid children of these Chicago civic servants. Attending the reception to congratulate the students were (left to right, seated) Chicago Fire Commissioner James Joyce and 1st Deputy Superintendent John Thomas, who represented the Chicago Police Department in Superintendent Terry Hillardís absence. Recipients of the four-year scholarships this year are (left to right, back row) James McNulty (C.F.D.); Patricia Molloy (C.P.D.); Stephanie Maras (C.P.D.); Laura Cerdan (C.F.D.); David Miller (C.F.D.); and Christopher Gross (C.P.D.). Two other first-years, Elaine Fisher (C.F.D.) and Brett Westphal (C.P.D.) (not pictured above), also received scholarships.
